A Ball to Be Around

Hello folks!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards sharing a Father's Day card with you featuring the Great Sport Set.   Here's a peek at the full set:

I thought a circle flip card would be a perfect backdrop for the basketball...or the baseball or bowling ball, for that matter.  I'll chat a bit more about the basketball in my next paragraph, but I want to tell you about the rest of the card first.  The base is made using a Christmas Wreath Flip Card cut file  from the Silhouette Store (minus the wreath, of course) using Night of Navy card stock.

The file comes with one set of mats, but I wanted to double mat it.  To do this, I simply created a 1/8" offset to create a slightly larger mats from scrap card stock for under the patterned paper.    Speaking of the patterned paper, it's Basketball Digital Paper by ScrapbookGems.

Here's a close-up of the basket ball.  To give it the appearance of spinning, I copied one of the vertical lines, flipped it and ran it horizontally across the top.  I used the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder to give it a basketball-like surface.

Flip cards are such a great design.  I wonder who figured out this clever fold as I wouldn't even know where to begin.

You just flip to read the sentiment.  The idea for the sentiment came from the Sunsational set, I just changed the font to match the patterned paper and I color matched it to the card base.

That wraps up my post for today.  If you want to take a better look at Sunsational's whimsical images, just click here.  And for some inspiration and interaction, you can check out the blog and the Facebook page.  And if you get the chance, come and visit me at Katydid Cards.

Before I leave you, I want to remind you about our monthly challenge ( the theme is Swim, Beach, Ocean) you still have time to enter.  The challenge post can be found here.

Octopi’d Heart

Hello there, crafty friends!  It’s Sharon, One Crafty Mrs, from A Piece Of (my) Heart's blog and I’m here today to share another card using this cute Sunsational Stamps digi, from the Ocean Critters stamp set.

OctopydHeart-May29-ocm_SS

I really love this card.  I think it is going to be an all-time favorite of mine. This card was made using digital paper found on the Pixel Scrapper site. If you have never visited Pixel Scrapper you should!  Signing up is free and you will get 5 FREE downloads per day.  It’s a great way to build your digital paper collection!

I printed this cute little Octopus from the set and colored him with Copics.  The hearts border was made with my Silhouette Cameo.  I chose 2 heart shapes and colored one with a background pattern and one with a solid color. I lined them up across a 5-inch rectangle that I had drawn and then used my spacing tool to make sure they were spaced evenly across the rectangle.  I printed this onto some white cardstock and adhered it to a black piece of cardstock.  The sentiment was typed into my Silhouette Cameo software and printed onto a piece of white cardstock which I also matted with some black cardstock.  With the leftover black cardstock I cut out a circle and a flag.  I layered another circle cut from some digital background paper on top of the black circle.  Once everything was cut, I adhered all the pieces onto a piece of 110 lb. white cardstock cut to 5.5-inches wide X 4.25-inches high.

I hope you love my card as much as I do!

Before I leave, I want to remind you about our monthly challenge (the theme this month is Swim, Beach, Ocean).  You still have time to enter so head on over to the challenge post and link up a card.

That’s it for me today.   Stop by the Sunsational Stamps Store and check out all the great stamps Lisa has available.  And don’t forget to visit the Facebook Fan page and the Sunsational Stamps blog for some fabulous inspiration from the other amazing Design Team members.

SUMMER FUN

Hello everyone
I created an inspirational card to use for either someone going on a trip, a friend needing some cheering for the summer. The inside of card is blank so the options are open for whatever you wish use this image.
For the background I used a paper from the American crafts collection. I then cut some waves from my cricut cartridge Crocs Rule. The stamp I used is http://sunsationalstamps.com/product/ashley-in-tube/. I did not use the stamp as it shows in store. I cut out the tube because I did not want it shown to create this image. The waves were created using three different shades of blue tones to create a colorful water scene.
Hope you enjoyed this card and if you have time check out the entire collection of stamps at
http://sunsationalstamps.com/ where I am sure you will find some stamps to add to your own collection.

Birthday Fishes

"I want to be under the sea, in an Octopus' garden in the shade." This card is inspired by a Beatles song that my husband sings around the house ALL THE TIME.  :)
Octopus' Garden Birthday Fishes
I used the Sunsational Stamps super adorable digi set Ocean Critters 1 and 2 to make this shaker card.  I colored these cute little ocean critters with my alcohol markers.  For the background and frame I blended Mermaid Lagoon, Faded Jeans and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink onto watercolor paper and then spritzed it with water.  I let the water sit on it for about a minute before I pressed a paper towel onto the paper to dry.  I like the bubbly spots this technique leaves.
Close-up of Birthday Fishes
Inside of Birthday Fishes Card
I used a rectangle die to cut the center out, I adhered a piece of acetate to the backside of the frame and added foam tape around backside of frame.  I adhered the solid rectangle to the card base and added the shaker elements.  I colored very small versions of the starfish, shells and turtles to add as additional shaker elements along with the beads and sequins.  I placed the acetate layer on top, added the ocean critter on top of the acetate and the 'Fishing You' are from my Doodlebug Teeny Type stickers.
I stamped the inside with a Raisin Boat sentiment and added one more turtle, because he is my VERY favorite!

Greetings crafty friends. LeeAnn here today with my latest inspiration project. This one is using the Swim/Beach/Ocean theme.

I placed Caleb and Cari in the pool and the raft and ball outside in an arrangement that made me happy.

All images colored with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers:

Cool Cari

I used Cool Cari for my card today.
I attempted a magic color slider card.  I'm not really sure I did it right, but I do like how it turned out so I'm going with it.

I love this seashell paper and will be so sad if they discontinue it.
I used a mask to cover her up and sponged the background using Tim Holtz inks.

Be sure to check out the new additions in the shop.
And don't forget our challenge!

Sea-Sational Ocean Critters by Sarah Rosse

Hello friends, Sarah here with a card from the ocean! This card uses the gorgeous whale from the Critters digital stamp set. This can be purchased instore at the Sunsational Stamps store by clicking here. As you see below, this has many options for all of your beach, swimming or ocean themed projects.

The background of this card was created using Zig clean colour brush markers. As pictured below, I scribbled various shades of blue on to my craft mat, then spritzed with water. I then took my piece of cardstock through this and ended up with this beautiful mix of colours.

I then used an embossing folder "Bubble" in my collection to give the impression for the card background. I love the look of this with the blue colours. The whale was coloured using the Zig clean colour brush markers with a water brush pen. I have layered the whale to give a raised affect amongst the waves. The sentiment is from Jess Craft Digitals. Let's take a closer look at him.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and background ideas, please don't forget about our monthly challenge (the theme is Swim, Beach, Ocean) you still have time to enter. Turtley Awesome

Hi folks.  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

The theme this week at Sunsational Stamps is Swim/Beach/Ocean.   I used the Ocean Critters 2 to make my card and, as the title of this post implies, I think this l'il guy is turtley awesome!

For something a bit different, I decided I would paper piece my image rather than color it and I think he's pretty happy with how he looks.  To accomplish this in my Silhouette design screen, I traced around the outside of the image and filled it with digital patterned paper from a Green/Purple Plaid collection.  This was the bottom layer which I printed on the circle over  a wave border I made and colored in semi-transparent purple.  I also created the greeting using the text to path option.

I printed the turtle three additional times; once plain white and two more times with different plaids and fussy cut the pieces.  The focal image was placed on a larger mat cut from scrap.  Another plaid from the collection was used for the panels, which I placed on a base of Green Galore card stock.  Here's another look from the side.

On the reverse I placed the patterned paper panels just on the two outer flaps with my matted sentiment in the middle.  I thought I'd make a cute thank you card for the treat of a trip to the beach!

As an alternative, I created a different sentiment as a friendship card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I look forward to sharing another with you next time.  In the meantime, come and visit me at Katydid Cards if you get the chance.

Before I leave you, I want to remind you about our monthly challenge ( the theme is Swim, Beach, Ocean) you still have time to enter.  The challenge post can be found here

No Disguising Dad

Hi there crafty friends, Sharon aka One Crafty Mrs. here to share my Monday make with you.  I had a little help and used Lori Whitlock’s Circle Flip Swing card file for the Silhouette Cameo to make today’s card.  I used the faces from the King Of The Grill set by Lisa @ Sunsational Stamps.

No Disguising Dad-May 15-ocm_SS

Triple Flip Fold

It may look simple but this card gave me a run for my money trying to figure out how to fold it, lol.  Once I figured that out, I printed the faces and cut them each into a small circle to fit. I cut 3 more larger circles out to layer behind the faces.  I used my PrismaColor Markers and a couple of Copics to color the faces.  I cut 3 more small circles out of white cardstock and 3 more larger circles to layer behind them.  Then I laid all of those pieces aside for the time being.

Tripe Flip Fold 2

I used the template from the card file to cut two pieces of cardstock for the front and inside panel of my card. I used a PrismaColor Marker to run along the edge of the cardstock to give it some definition.  Then I adhered it to the card front with some Tombo Multi Mono Liquid Glue.  I cut another piece of cardstock and adhered it to the inside.

The final step was to attached the faces to the front and the sentiments to the inside.  I added a piece of washi tape and called it done!

Fathers Day Card

Hello everyone
This is a box  card I created for Fathers Day. To make the box card I followed a video on you tube in order to get proper measurements. I used a dark blue cardstock to make the box. I picked out a light blue striped cardstock for the top layer. I chose the king of the grill stamps that was sent to me from sunsational stamps. All was colored using the spectrum noir markers. The pieces are attached with clear acetate to set them to the desired height. This card was fun and easy to do, be sure to check out the blog to see all other beautiful crafts that were completed from different members of the designer team.

Papa Bear

Hi everyone this is Mona back with a fun Fathers Day card using a stamp set called
http://sunsationalstamps.com/product/love-bear-male-version/ . I started by my background using a background die from Gina Marie called sunburnt. I die cut it three times in different colours every time.  Glued  my puzzle background onto my card base which is 41/4 x 51/2 . Now for the fun part colouring the image using my spectrum noire and my white get pen for details. Went on to fussy cut the bear and the sentiment. I used foam tape to adhere the bear and give my card dimension. Layered my sentiment with black card stock to give it more definition. Hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to read it see you again soon. For your browsing convenience here is the link to the store .

Dad's Cooking Up Some Fun

Hi there, I know Mother's Day is right around the corner, but I am already working on Father's Day cards, so I would like to share this one with you featuring a couple of the Sunsational Stamps digi sets; King of the Grill and Love Bear (male)
King-of-the-Grill Digi Set
Love Bear Man Digi Set
Dad's Cooking Card
I started out by stamping a denim patterned background onto the apron in Memento Ink so that I could color over it with alcohol markers.  I used a dark blue, medium red and a cool grey.  Then I colored the bear with E37 and used a paper towel dipped in rubbing alcohol to dab the bear to create "fur".  I cut the bear apart, so I could put the apron on him.  I popped up his head and added the arms.  The grilling tools were added and the bottom of each tool was popped up to give it a little dimension.
