Good day! Do you love autumn as much as I do? Ah, Autumn is the sentiment I chose from my CTMH collection. This fabulous image named Fall Tree is from Sunsational Stamps.
I tried a new technique that I thought would add just the right somethin-somethin, and that was Foiling. I have heard mixed reviews on the MINK foiling machine, so I could not justify buying one until all the bugs are worked out of them…so how did I do it you ask???? I used a laminator. I happen to follow a terrifically talented artist Jennifer McGuire and she has a YouTube showing how to use a basic laminator for the heat and pressure needed to transfer the foil to the image, and low and behold it worked! By the way, I borrowed the laminator from my fabulous daughter, love you sweetie!
The trick to getting the foil to stick to the pattern on the paper is to print the design out on a laser jet printer or use a copy machine, the foil needs toner to adhere to the paper. I printed the Fall Tree image and proceeded to shade in a few of the leaves with a black marker, then I copied it (for the toner). I heated up the laminator, once the indicator light lit up to let me know it was hot enough, I placed the foil shiny side up onto my design and put it into a folded piece of copy paper, this substituted as a carrier sheet, then I just fed it into the laminator. I used Spiced marmalade, Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber & Barn Door Distress markers to color the leaves and Copic E33 & E37 for the tree. I just love how it turned out!
I plan to use this in a scrapbook layout with some pictures we took at the arboretum last year.
I hope you enjoyed today's post and perhaps it inspired you to try the foiling technique on your next project.
